As part of RS&H’s culture of care, associates push the boundaries of care to amplify the collective potential of our world. Those boundaries extend beyond our projects, as we seek to benefit the communities we serve.

The RS&H Elevate Fund promotes and advances the work of impactful organizations across the country. Dedicated associates apply throughout the year on behalf of their chosen organizations, helping to bring awareness and resources to the missions that inspire them.

RS&H aims to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that focus on serving people in need, supporting children and youth programs, helping the environment and enhancing education. To date, the RS&H Elevate Fund has donated more than $340,000 to more than 50 community organizations.

For the second give of the fiscal year, the RS&H Elevate Fund Committee selected nine organizations to receive a combined $40,000 in funding. These organizations are:

Able Kids Foundation, Fort Collins, Colorado

The Able Kids Foundation specializes in the diagnosis and management of central auditory processing disorder for individuals across the U.S. The foundation aims to eliminate barriers and expand opportunities for individuals with auditory challenges. Funding will go to the Able Kids Foundation’s Sponsorship Assistance Program to help offset the cost of their services for families in financial need.

CASA of DuPage County, Illinois

The mission of DuPage County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is to recruit, train and support volunteer citizen advocates to effectively speak to the best interests of abused, neglected, dependent and vulnerable children in the DuPage County court system. Funding will be used for CASA of DuPage County’s Empowerment Program, which assists young women and men who have been youth in care and aspire to attend college in pursuit of a certificate, associate’s, bachelor’s degree or other form of higher education.

Center for Independent Living, Jacksonville

The Center for Independent Living provides various services and assistance to individuals with disabilities in Northeast Florida. Each Halloween, RS&H partners with the organization to craft custom costumes for children in wheelchairs. The costumes are designed to be enjoyed independent of the wheelchair so the impact extends beyond the Halloween season. The grant covers the costs of materials and new wheelchairs to support even more children.

Communities in Schools, Jacksonville

Communities in Schools serves more than 7,000 students in 39 elementary, middle and high Duval County Public Schools, dedicated to helping at-risk students stay in school and earn their diplomas. Funding will benefit the organization’s Robotics Program, which encourages students to use their imagination while learning and applying STEM concepts to solve problems and develop critical thinking, team-building skills and presentation skills.

Horton Wreath Society, Chesapeake, Virginia

Horton Wreath Society is a charitable corporation organized exclusively for the purpose of raising funds from the general public and corporations throughout the year to purchase live memorial wreaths with red bows to be placed on Veterans’ gravesites and columbarium rows each December at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia. Funding will help ensure every fallen hero is remembered.

Mighty Max Foundation, Angier, North Carolina

The Mighty Max Foundation supports the research of a rare congenital heart disease, pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS). PVS is a life-threatening congenital heart defect with a very limited number of doctors and hospitals that can care for kids diagnosed with the disease. Funds raised through this organization go toward a $100,000 goal at Boston Children's hospital to fund research of PVS.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) of Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia

Another CASA Program, SCAN provides trained, judge-appointed volunteers who make sure that children are not alone, without a voice, or lost within the overburdened justice system. The program has trained and supervises more than 400 volunteers, serving more than 1,500 children. Funding will help SCAN to increase their outreach and training program for new volunteers and ultimately increase the number of children they are able to directly advocate for.

Seamark Ranch, Green Cove Springs

Seamark Ranch is a nurturing residential home and family system that gives children from families in crisis the tools they need for a brighter future. Through a family home model, a specialized residential school and a 468-acre working farm, Seamark Ranch provides the ideal setting for love, stabilization, healing, education and empowerment. Funding will boost the Student Jobs Program, which benefits students while fulfilling needed jobs on the Seamark campus, including farming and agriculture jobs, ranch and facilities maintenance, and cleaning services for Seamark School and administrative offices.

The Great Springs Project, Austin, Texas

The Great Springs Project (GSP) is working to create a greenway of contiguous protected lands between Austin and San Antonio over the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone. This green corridor will be connected by a network of spring-to-spring trails, linking four of Texas' Great Springs: Barton Springs, San Marcos Springs, Comal Springs, and San Antonio Springs. Funding will help GSP unify existing local efforts to address the most critical water, land, wildlife and public health challenges facing the Central Texas region.
